During the COVID-19 pandemic we reflected on our User Group, and came to the conclusion that it needed a revamp. Not only did the COVID-19 pandemic force us to be innovative, but it also caused us to reflect on who we are, what we stand for and what we want to accomplish.
We started the User Group in August 2018 to promote the adoption of the Microsoft Power Platform across industries and disciplines. The emphasis was on Power Apps. However, as the platform evolved we recognized the need to broaden the scope and professionalize the organization behind the User Group’s activities.
Rebranding our image also meant creating a new website and redesigning the logo to reflect the current state of the Microsoft Power Platform. We’ve chosen a logo that is “time-resistant” and at the same time symbolises the character and culture of Belgium:
- The colors Black, Yellow and Red all have their own meanings and are naturally reflected in our National Flag. Black stands for humility and service, Yellow stand for wealth and authority and Red stands for bravery and victory. Yes, we especially like the Red in Red Devils and Red Lions.
- The Atomium is the international symbol of (Brussels and) Belgium. Forget Manneken Pis, Jeanneke Pis and Zinneke Pis for a second. 😉
- Fries (alongside waffles), the one thing that all Belgians have in common.
By the way, the term ‘French Fries’ was created by us and has nothing to do with France. Indeed, “Freedom Fries” was a silly invention of our American friends…. ‘Frenching’ is a typical manner by which we Belgians prepare our fries.
As the COVID-19 pandemic comes to a close, at least in Belgium, we decided that now is the time to re-launch the rebranded and revamped User Group.
Part of this overhaul also meant streamlining our collaboration space. Therefore we have decided to retire our Meetup page and the legacy Local User Group page. From the 30th of November 2021 onwards we’ll instead focus on building out our new space, for which you can sign up by clicking on the Join button on top of this page. Keep in mind that the new collaboration experience is continuously being improved: what may not be supported today, could be in the future. So, please bare with us while we make the transition.
Finally, we would like to thank everyone who has supported us in the past 3 years. With your help and participation we’re convinced that our best days are ahead of us. We have a quite exciting program planned for the coming years. Announcements of our upcoming activities will be following at any moment now. Talk to you soon!
